The present invention relates to a diruthenium complex dye for providing a more highly-efficient photoelectric conversion element having higher current density and a photochemical cell, and further relates to a photochemical cell having high conversion efficiency which is provided with semiconductor particles sensitized by the diruthenium complex dye and an electrolyte solution including as the main component an ionic liquid.
