PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste transfer facility and a waste transfer method capable of transferring, in a case of providing a new shield wall opening (new opening) in a biological shield wall surrounding a reactor pressure vessel and delivering a dismantling and recovery device from the new opening into a pedestal, waste (fuel debris, etc.) dismantled and recovered by the dismantling and recovery device from within the pedestal to outside of a biological shield wall in parallel to dismantling and recovery work.SOLUTION: A waste transfer facility comprises: an airtight intermediate shield chamber 22 installed in a biological shield wall 1a having a shield wall opening (existing opening 14) to surround the existing opening 14; an airtight recovery shield chamber 30 connectable in series with and separable from the intermediate shield chamber 22; and a recovery platform truck 40 which is stored in the recovery shield chamber 30, passing through the intermediate shield chamber 22 and the existing opening 14, and capable of reciprocating between an interior of a pedestal and the recovery shield chamber 30 via a slope 15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
