PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bioremediation technology effectively degrading less chlorinated PCBs or HCHs.SOLUTION: There is provided a degrading bacterium with characteristics which include a part or whole of mycological characteristics of Sphingomonas sp.TSK-1 strain having less chlorinated PCBs or HCHs degrading ability or an organic chlorine containing compound degrading agent which comprises the degrading bacterium in a porous material such as a wood based carbonized material. There is also provided an organic chlorine containing compound degrading agent which comprises the degrading bacterium together with degrading bacterium PD653. The less chlorinated PCBs and four kinds of HCHs can be degraded using the degrading bacteria.
