PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing device of a steel material which enables a round surface to be easily and uniformly formed at a corner on the flange tip outer side in the steel material that has been rolled, and to provide a processing method of the steel material.SOLUTION: A processing device of a steel material includes: a side guide roll 2 which is composed of multiple rolls arranged along a transfer direction of a transfer line 10 of a steel material 9 that has been rolled and restricts a position of the steel material 9 in a width direction while rotating in the transfer direction; multiple grinders 4 which are disposed at the downstream side of the side guide roll 2 and grind a ground part of the steel material 9; a pinch roll 3 which is disposed at the upstream side of the grinders 4 and presses the steel material 9 from above while rotating in the transfer direction; and a control part 6 which controls heights of the grinders 4 and directions that the grinders 4 are pressed against the ground part.
