PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a splicer for splicing two thread ends, the splicer being provided with: two untwisting tubes which can be supplied asymmetrically with compressed air for respectively preparing one of the two thread ends before they are spliced; and an adjustable pressure reducer which is positioned upstream of one of the two untwisting tubes and acts only on the one untwisting tube when the compressed air is supplied.;SOLUTION: It is known by the configuration of compressed air supply units to the untwisting tubes (64, 64) or by measurement that which of the two untwisting tubes (64, 64) is supplied with a higher pressure when the pressure reducer (6) is fully opened during the preparation of the thread ends, so that the pressure reducer (6) is positioned upstream of the untwisting tube (64) with the relatively high pressure.
