PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration type driving device capable of reducing unnecessary vibration depending on a driving parameter, and making a range in which a speed can be controlled larger than the conventional one.SOLUTION: A speed control mechanism of a vibration type driving device for driving a movable element by a frictional force generated by vibration waves excited by a vibrator comprises a vibrator for exciting vibration waves by applying an alternating-current voltage due to alternating-current voltage application means, and a movable element contacting the vibrator. The mechanism comprises: a storage part 41 for storing a correspondence of a driving parameter and a speed signal of the movable element when the vibration type driving device is driven using the driving parameter; and a selection part 42 for selecting combination of the driving parameters at which a corresponding speed signal corresponds to a target speed and amplitude of the unnecessary vibration is not more than a predetermined threshold among the driving parameters outputted from a storage part and stored in the storage part.
