An ocean current power generation apparatus and an ocean current power generation system that can be used for a long period of time and have excellent maintainability are provided. An ocean current power generation apparatus according to the present invention includes a main body part 2 having a ballast tank, a generator 5 having a turbine 6 that rotates in response to the sea current, and raises and lowers the generator 5 with respect to the main body part 2. Elevating mechanisms 7 and 8 are provided. When a command to shift to the power generation state is issued, the lifting mechanism 7, 8 moves the generator 5 to a power generation position below the main body 2, and a command to shift to the power generation halt state is issued.
