PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a newspaper article archive system that enables, in browsing newspaper articles, the wanted newspaper article to be efficiently searched for without inviting an increase in processing load.SOLUTION: A newspaper page image display controller 14 so performs control as to display on a display device 2 one newspaper page image selected by a selector 13. A tag determining unit 15 determines whether or not a tag candidate character string, inputted on the basis of whether or not a tag candidate character string inputted by an operating unit 10 exists on the displayed newspaper page image, is appropriate and, if it is, causes a tag database 4 to store the tag candidates determined to be appropriate as tag information. A tag display controller 16, when displaying a newspaper page image on the display device 2, causes the display device 2 to display a plurality of rectangular zones set correspondingly to the newspaper page image and then causes the tag information to be displayed in a rectangular zone corresponding to the position of the newspaper page image in which the tag candidate character string determined to be appropriate exists.
