Processing method of radioactive cesium contaminated soil

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent radioactive cesium from being discharged from agglomerations of pellets or the like, in a case when microparticles containing clay minerals are separated from soil contaminated with radioactive cesium and are solidified as the agglomerations.;SOLUTION: A method for treating radioactive cesium-contaminated soil comprises the steps of: separating microparticles containing clay minerals from soil contaminated with radioactive cesium; producing agglomerations of pellets or the like by solidifying the separated microparticles; making the agglomerations biscuit-fired; applying glaze to the biscuit-fired agglomerations; performing glaze firing on the agglomerations applied with the glaze; measuring radiation doses of the glaze-fired agglomerations to sort the agglomerations in accordance with their radiation doses to house them in a storage container; performing a traceability management for each of the agglomerations by applying individual identification information to the glaze-fired agglomerations; and drying granular materials containing pebbles and sand left after separation of the clay mineral-contained microparticles, and performing a final disposal such as a buried storage.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
