The present invention discloses nitrogen-doped carbon nanohorns as an efficient metal-free oxygen-reducing electrocatalyst for anion exchange membrane fuel cells. In particular, the present invention relates to a method for producing nitrogen-doped carbon nanohorns with increased electrical conductivity and improved surface area.
