In the brake device, the urging means urges the movable portion in a direction to bring the friction member into contact with the rotating body. The braking force releasing means displaces the movable portion in a direction in which the friction member separates from the rotating body against the urging means. Between the fixed part and the movable part, a cushioning member made of a flexible material is arranged. The deforming means presses the buffer member in a direction intersecting the displacement direction of the movable portion to deform the buffer member.
