The invention provides a coder anomaly detection device which can detect noise practically and an elevator device employing the coder anomaly detection device. The coder anomaly detection device is a coder anomaly detection device detecting anomaly of a sine wave coder 4. The sine wave coder 4 outputs a two-phase signal of a sine wave and a cosine wave along rotation of a rotating body. The sine wave and the cosine wave have two voltage polarities of a positive electrode and a negative electrode or with certain deviation, and the phase difference is 90 degrees. The coder anomaly detection device comprises a conversion part and a comparison part. The conversion part marks the sine wave outputted by the sine wave coder 4 as a vector on the x axis, and marks the cosine wave as a vector on the y axis. The comparison part judges tha anomaly happens when the vector deviates the threshold value in the radial direction or vector deviates the threshold value in the circumferential direction.
