PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TG mouse that expresses TGFβ1 specifically in the kidney and spontaneously develops renal fibrosis. This is achieved by a transgenic mouse comprising the promoter region of mouse Podocin and the entire gene region of human transforming factor β1 (human TGFβ1) that is located downstream of the promoter region and whose expression is controlled.
