The present invention provides a ball screw mechanism life prediction method that can be predicted easily by a controller of an injection molding machine while requiring a relatively small amount of calculation for the prediction while the prediction is relatively accurate. In a mold clamping ball screw mechanism (24) for driving a toggle mechanism (14) of a toggle type mold clamping device (2), an operable time which is a time during which the mold clamping ball screw mechanism (24) can be operated. Predict (Lt). The theoretical formula is simplified based on the theoretical formula representing the life of the ball screw mechanism, and the operable time (Lt) is given as a one-variable function with the mold clamping force (KS) as one variable. Based on this one-variable function, the lifetime of the mold clamping ball screw mechanism (24) is predicted.
