PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable observation for each piece of information contained in a specimen, by use of a confocal optical scanner, to form an image of high image quality, reduce damage to the specimen, and to easily adjust an optical system.;SOLUTION: The confocal optical scanner 3 according to the present invention comprises: an optical scanning unit 11 having a plurality of openings through which illumination light L for causing a specimen S to render fluorescent by emitting light to the specimen S is passed, and configured to cause the sample S to scan the illumination light L passed through the openings; a spectroscopic mirror 15 configured to separate information contained in the sample S into pieces of information according to the paths of the fluorescence; first and second reflecting mirrors 16 and 17 configured such that the optical paths of fluorescence, resulting from the separation by the spectroscopic mirror 15, are imaged at different locations; a converging mirror 18 configured to converge the separate fluorescent light beams; and a field diaphragm 12 provided in the optical path of the illumination light L and configured to narrow the field of the illumination light L.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
