The present invention relates to the development of siRNA against Nonstructural I (NSI) gene of influenza Virus. In the present invention. the most conserved regions of NSI gene are identified by aligning multiple sequences of human pathogenic IAV submitted in NCBI database (Influenza virus resource) from all over the world. siRNA developed according to the present invention inhibited Influenza A pdm H1N1 and Influenza A/H3N2 replication by 60% respectively within 48 hrs of virus inoculation onto pre-siNSI- transfected MDCK cell line.
