The invention aims to teach a method and an apparatus to gather used punched cards available with traditional weavers and to read and collate this data using a novel apparatus. This apparatus and method will prove to be extremely useful as a wide variety of traditional weavers designs can be captured very simply and the gathered data can be easily processed for replicating or imitating the forgotten old weave designs without much effort. The technique putforth by this invention is very significant for the handloom industry, which intends to revive traditional art and design of Indian handloom industry due to its simplicity in hardware and simplicity in method.
