NON THERMAL PLASMA TECHNOLOGY FOR ABATEMENT OF NOX AND SOX FROM MARINE ENGINES

ABSTRACT Non Thermal Plasma Technology for Abatement of NOx and SOx from Marine Engines Exhaust gases from ships are considered to be a significant source of air pollution, both for conventional pollutants and greenhouse gases. Of total global air emissions, shipping accounts for 18 to 30 percent of the nitrogen oxide and 9 percent of the sulphur oxides. This invention proposes the use of non thermal plasma reactor whereby the amount of pollutant released into the atmosphere will be comparatively reduced thereby protecting environment and marine life cycle.
