The aim of present investigation focused on the utilization of organic substances and improvement of biohydrogen production from distillery spent wash effluent (DSWE) using electro oxidation pretreatment. DSWE is one of the extreme polluting industrial effluents and it contains highly rich organic compounds and hence, is one of the suitable substrates for hydrogen production. The electro oxidation for 20min was beneficial for the enhancement of biohydrogen production in dark fermentation process.
