The present disclosure is related to the use of L-glutamate functionalized metaloporphyrines as anti-carcinogenic agent for treatment in photodynamic therapy (PDT), specifically against solid tumors and skin carcinomas, in a given concentration range. Porphyrin molecules improve their photodynamic activity through the functionalization with molecules of L-glutamate and the metalation of the macrocycle.
