The invention relates to a process of preparing unidimensional zinc oxide nanostructures on the surface of zinc films, with applications in the field of surfaces with superhydrophobic properties and self-cleaning properties. According to the invention, the process consists of the thermal oxidation in air of zinc films, in a convection oven, at atmospheric pressure, only in the presence of the oxygen in the air, for 12 h, at temperatures of 400°C, 500°C and 600°C.
