The invention relates to a polymeric material intended to be used in food-packaging industry and to a process for preparing the same. According to the invention, the material comprises 54.9...55.8% chitosan of average molecular mass, 36.6...37.2% hip-rose seed oil, 6.86...6.97% Tween 80 and 1.64% clay, the percentage being expressed by mass. The process, as claimed by the invention, consists in processing the starting material, in solution, at the ambient temperature, after which the solvent evaporates from the resulting solution which results in a uniform film of material having a thickness of 0.148...0.237 mm, increased flexibility, an inhibition degree after 24-h exposure to microorganisms of 59...82% and an antioxidant activity increased from 1.6% to 6.78%.
