A loop reactor apparatus comprising: a plurality of major segments; a plurality of minor segments, where each segment connects two lower major segments to each other, so that the major and minor segments form a continuous flow path for transporting the suspension; A monomer feed attached to one of the segments; one catalyst feed attached to one of the segments; one product extraction attached to one of the segments; a pump in a box arcuate pump, where the pump housing is positioned in one of the segments, the pump having at least one impeller mounted on a shaft, wherein the impeller has blades which are oriented at an angle between 0 to 90 degrees from the axis, the pump having a projecting position along the proximal shaft to at least one impeller, so that a path curved flow is defined between the projection and the pump housing, which flow path is arranged so that the suspension flows through the vane is redirected out of the pump casing by the flow path; and wherein the apparatus further includes loop reactor guide vanes located along the flow path to redirect the flow of rotation of the suspension after the impeller discharge.
