A shaped article comprising one or more layers composed of (i) a vulcanizate encapsulated in a matrix of colored or non-colored thermoplastic polymer containing one or more passivating agents, and (ii) a reflective material chosen from: colored fluidizable particles of a vulcanizate encapsulated with thermoplastic reflective dye comprising from 0.05 to 3% by weight, based on total solids, of one or more passivating agents; roof granules; granules for thermoplastic encapsulated roofs; the colored thermoplastic polymer matrix; and combinations thereof, wherein said passivation agent is selected from metals and multivalent compounds; wherein the colored fluidizable particles are dispersed within the surface of the composite layer, or any of the colored fluidizable particles or the granules are dispersed on the surface of the composite layer or are adhered thereto with a thermoplastic resin; and where, when the reflective material (ii) is the colored thermoplastic polymer matrix, the shaped article is prepared from 100% of the vulcanized encapsulated with colored thermoplastic polymer.
