A non-human transgenic animal model for ulcerative colitis and its major complications, such as primary sclerosing cholangitis and colorectal cancer, comprising a targeted alteration in the genes for interleukin 10 (IL10) and the oxidase of NADPH 1 (NOX1 ), such that IL10 and NOX1 are not expressed in said animal, and in which an appendectomy or removal of the cecal soil is carried out in the animal.
