The present invention provides a compressed air filter (1) and a filterelement (5) which is forseparating foreign bodies from a compressed air stream and which has anelement lowerportion (6), an element upper portion (7) which has a neck portion (13) whichforms a firstflow channel (9) and a collar portion (14) which is constructed so as toextend at leastpartially around the neck portion (13) and which is connected to the neckportion (13) so asto form a second flow channel (10), and a filter medium (8) which is sealinglyconnected tothe element lower portion (6) and the element upper portion (7) in order toform a gas flowpath between the first flow channel (9) and the second flow channel (10)through the filtermedium (8), the collar portion (14) having an abutment face (16), which isprovided at leastpartially at the outer periphery and which tapers in the direction of theelement lower portion(6), in order to receive an associated sealing ring (22) in such a manner thata force whichacts substantially axially on the sealing ring (22) from the direction of theelement lowerportion (6) brings about radial expansion of the sealing ring (22) along theabutment face(16).
