A process and an apparatus for the treatment of paraffinic froth treatmenttails comprising:providing a liquid tails stream; introducing the liquid tails stream into apumpbox, wherein thepressure of the liquid tails stream is sufficiently higher than the pressureinside the pumpbox, so thatwhen the liquid tails stream enters the pumpbox, a flash converts a portion ofthe liquid tails streamto a vapour, the remaining liquid tails accumulating at a bottom portion ofthe pumpbox prior tobeing removed and injected into a tailings solvent recovery unit; removing aportion of the vapourthrough a vapour management system located above the liquid line inside thepumpbox; creatingsolvent vapours in the tailing solvent recovery unit; and removing a portionof the solvent vapourscreated in the tailing solvent recovery unit through an outlet on the tailingsolvent recovery unit,said outlet being in fluid connection with the pumpbox overflow vapour.
