A process and an apparatus for the treatment of paraffinic froth treatmenttails comprising; providing a liquidtails stream; introducing the liquid tails stream into a pumpbox, wherein thepressure of the liquid tailsstream is sufficiently higher than the pressure inside the pumpbox, so thatwhen the liquid tails stream entersthe pumpbox, a flash converts a portion of the liquid tails stream to avapour, the remaining liquid tailsaccumulating at a bottom portion of the pumpbox prior to being removed andinjected into a tailings solventrecovery unit; removing a portion of the vapour through a vapour managementsystem located above theliquid line inside the pumpbox; creating solvent vapours in the tailingsolvent recovery unit; and removing aportion of the solvent vapours created in the tailing solvent recovery unitthrough an outlet on the tailingsolvent recovery unit, said outlet being in fluid connection with the pumpboxoverflow vapour.
