The present art of countering the lEDs is by using jammers to block the signals from reaching the charge. In this case, very expensive equipment is required and can only be used for protection of VIP (prize targets) motorcades or meetings in large halls. A bubble of electro-magnetic waves is created around the target (mobile or static) to stop the trigger signal from reaching the charge. The most lethal IED today and to which there is no comprehensive counter measure is the Wire Commanded IED. It is usually used in open areas targeting military convoys. Searching the internet shows clearly that there is no easy way of countering this threat. Attached are all articles (downloaded from the internet) related to lEDs and showing clearly that the wire commanded IED are the only ones with no conclusive counter measure. It is expected that most lEDs will turn to wire commands as it is the most cost effective and relatively safe to the attacker The buried wires cannot be seen by the naked eye, and very time consuming to be checked manually. SHIM/ -SNAPPER is the answer to this problem.
