The invention relates to a flowmeter (1) based on the vortex flow measurement principle, comprising: a measuring tube (2); a bluff body (4) in the measuring tube (2) for generating a Karman vortex sheet with a flow-dependent vortex frequency; a first pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement (12, 14) for detecting and signaling vortex-related pressure fluctuations and for providing pressure fluctuation-dependent signals; a second pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement (16, 18) for detecting and signaling vortex-related pressure fluctuations and for providing pressure fluctuation-dependent signals, wherein the first pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement (12, 14) is arranged at a distance from the second pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement (16, 18) in the longitudinal direction of the measuring tube; and an analyzing unit (20) for determining a vortex frequency and a flow measurement value based on the vortex frequency. The analyzing unit (20) is additionally designed to determine the current Reynolds number and/or the kinematic viscosity of the medium flowing in the measuring tube using the ratio of the amplitudes of the signals of the first pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement (12, 14) and the second pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement (16, 18) or variables derived therefrom.
