A virtual item transaction assistance method and apparatus, and a virtual item transaction system. The method comprises: acquiring transaction information about a virtual item (S100), wherein the transaction information about the virtual item comprises information about a virtual item to be sold in a third-party application, an account carrying the virtual item to be sold and an account of a buyer; controlling a terminal device to use the account carrying the virtual item to be sold to log into the third-party application (S200); controlling the terminal device to send, to the third-party application, a transaction request for transferring the virtual item to be sold to the account of the buyer (S300); and acquiring, from the terminal device, transaction confirmation information from the third-party application (S400). Therefore, a terminal device can be controlled to automatically log into a relevant application so as to complete the transaction of a virtual item, thereby reducing the cost and error rate of a transaction completed manually.
