The present invention relates to the field of the Internet, and provides an information pushing method for use when recommending a nearby contact, and an information pushing system, the method comprising: on the basis of the telephone number of a contact in the mobile telephone of a user, using GPS to query the current position of the contact; detecting whether the current position of the contact is less than a determined threshold from the current position of the user; if not, then maintaining the original state; and if so, then pushing to the user the state of the contact less than a determined threshold from the position of the user, and pushing patent reminder information. The present invention monitors the current position of contacts associated with a user and promptly pushes a nearby telephone contact to the user, thereby helping the user to socialise more conveniently, and simultaneously protecting the interests of the invention creator.
