An airflow generating apparatus capable of sensing the distance of a human body, and a control method therefor, the airflow generating apparatus comprising a bottom base (1), a connecting rod (2), and a fan body (3), the fan body (3) comprising a cover, a motor (4) arranged in the cover, and fan blades (5), the front face of the cover being provided with a distance sensor (6) used for sensing a human body, and an adjustment module (7) used for adjusting the rotation speed of the motor (4) on the basis of the distance of the human body sensed by the distance sensor (6) being arranged in the cover. The control method is used for controlling the airflow generating apparatus capable of sensing the distance of a human body. By means of arranging an adjustment module (7) used for adjusting the rotation speed of the motor (4) on the basis of the distance of the human body sensed by the distance sensor (6), the airflow generating apparatus can adjust the rotation speed according to the distance between the human body and the airflow generating apparatus, such that people can feel a uniform wind speed at different distances.
