A preparation method for a lithium-ion battery negative electrode material, in which raw materials are proportioned according to parts by weight, comprising the following steps: (1) graphite, a phenolic resin, and tin nanopowder are added to hexamethylenetetramine having 3% to 5% resin content and mixed into a uniform slurry; (2) the evenly mixed slurry is spray dried to produce graphite powder cladded on the surface thereof with a mixture of tin nanoparticles and the phenolic resin; (3) the powder produced is mixed evenly with an asphalt powder; and (4) the powder produced undergoes a high temperature treatment. Selection of the tin nanopowder prevents a volume effect produced by tin powder due to large particle size when charging/discharging, thus ensuring the stability of the material in charging and discharging processes.
