A word learning device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a display unit; a memory map database which stores a background image and a first mental image corresponding to a representative number associated with a representative word, stores one or more assonant words associated with the representative word in a manner to match each of second mental images, and stores linked words in a given stage corresponding to each of the representative word and the assonant words in a manner to match each of third mental images; and a control unit which is configured to display the first mental image on the background image at a first location on the basis of the representative number, and to display the second and third mental images corresponding to the first mental image on the basis of a first location according to a predetermined matrix position.
