This is achieved by virtue of the fact that a device for reducing the rotational speed of the expansion machine 11 is provided, and that the reduction in the rotational speed of the expansion machine 11 can be set by means of the device which is, in particular, the electric machine 16, in a manner which is dependent on an operating state of the internal combustion engine 5 and/or of the waste heat recovery system.
