A method for comparing running data in the same area and a data processing system, the method comprising: recording a comparison area preset by a user (S101); collecting running data of the user to a cloud (S102); sorting at the cloud, according to the comparison area preset by the user, data of all runners within the preset comparison area (S103); feeding back to the user end the sorted data (S104). By means of collecting running data to the cloud, the cloud performs statistics and comparison of data within the same administrative area, and then feeds back the sorted data to the user, so that the sorting, comparison and display of running data within the same administrative area can be achieved.
