An information prompting method during the storage of foodstuffs based on dishes, and a storage system. The method comprises: recording dishes consumed by customers and consumption time (S100); uploading to the cloud the dishes consumed by the customers and the consumption time (S101); determining, according to the frequency of consumption of dishes by the customers within the same time period, the dishes that are most frequently consumed within the same time period as the consumed dishes of the customers (S102); and recommending, according to the current time period and the consumed dishes of the customers, to a restaurant foodstuffs needing to be prepared in advance, and pushing patent information to the customers (S103). By recording the consumptions of customers and analyzing the consumption habits of the customers, foodstuffs are prepared in advance in more targeted fashion, thereby reducing the storage pressure on the merchants and avoiding wastes. In addition, the rights of a patentee (applicant) are protected.
