The invention relates to a transmission (G) for a motor vehicle. The transmission (G) has a drive shaft (GW1), an output shaft (GW2), a differential transmission (AG), an interface (IF) for a transmission-external drive unit, an electric machine (EM) comprising a rotationally fixed stator (S) and a rotatable rotor (R), a plurality of planetary gear sets (PS, PV), and a plurality of shift elements (A, B, C, D, E). The electric machine (EM) is arranged at the axial end of the transmission (G) opposite the interface (IF) for the transmission-external drive unit. A region (X) which directly adjoins the differential transmission (AG) and which is designed to receive a joint (GL) of a motor vehicle side shaft (DS) is arranged completely or at least partly in an assembly space radially outside of the electric machine (EM). The invention also relates to a composite consisting of such a transmission (G) and a powertrain side shaft (DS).
