This pulse estimating device (3) includes: an image input unit (21) into which temporally consecutive captured images are input via a camera, the captured images including at least a portion of a subject as an imaged object; an area extraction unit (22) that extracts a skin color area from the captured images; a pulse wave detection unit (23) that detects a pulse wave signal of the subject on the basis of information extracted from the skin color area; a pulse estimating unit (24) that estimates the pulse of the subject on the basis of the pulse wave signal; a pulse wave examination unit (26) that extracts characteristics of the waveform of the pulse wave signal and determines whether the characteristics of the waveform are within a prescribed reference range; and an output determination unit (27) that outputs the pulse estimated by the pulse estimating unit if the pulse wave examination unit determines that the characteristics of the waveform are within the reference range.
