A fault alarm system for campus street lamps, comprising an illumination module (1), an open circuit detection module (2), a communication module (3), and a control terminal (4). The open circuit detection module (2) is used for detecting whether an illumination line is broken, and send fault information to the control terminal (4) by means of the communication module (3) when the illumination line is broken. The system further comprises an input module (5) used for sign-in of maintenance personnel after maintenance or routine inspection. The control terminal (4) further comprises a log memory (40) used for recording and storing sign-in information. The system further comprises a light detection module (6) used for sending fault information to the control terminal (4) by means of the communication module (3) when detecting that light greatly and regularly changes within a period of time. When open circuit occurs, the open circuit detection module (2) sends detected open circuit information to the control terminal (4) to timely inform the maintenance personnel to repair. When a light source flickers, the light detection module (6) performs detection and sends information to the control terminal (4), thereby implementing timely maintenance.
