The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating chronic obstructive lung diseases, wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains a Magnoliae flos extract, a fraction fractionalized by using an organic solvent thereof, an active fraction, or a compound separated therefrom as an active ingredient. It has been confirmed that the magnoliae flos extract, the fraction fractionalized by using an organic solvent thereof, the active fraction, or the compound separated therefrom can be used in treating chronic obstructive lung diseases by inhibiting promoter activity or expression of MUC5AC induced by TNF- in a human lung cancer mucosal cell (H292), inhibiting the number of inflammation cells in a bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of a chronic obstructive lung disease mouse model, inhibiting the generation of an active oxygen group, and reducing cytokine. Accordingly, the magnoliae flos extract, the fraction fractionalized by using an organic solvent thereof, the active fraction, or the compound separated therefrom can be useful as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating chronic obstructive lung diseases.
