The present invention provides a technique for increasing the size of a plant seed and the content of storage lipid in the plant seed by using a pyruvic acid transporter in charge of transporting pyruvic acid in a plant. More specifically, the present invention relates to a composition for increasing the size of a plant seed and the content of storage lipid in the plant seed, wherein the plant seed includes a BASS2 protein which is a pyruvic acid transporter or a gene encoding the same; and a method for increasing the size of a plant seed or the content of storage lipid in the plant seed, wherein the method comprises a step of inducing the gene and a promoter for overexpressing the gene to a plant. According to the present invention, when a seed is produced, the amount of pyruvic acid transported to a plastid is increased, so the number of fatty acid precursors can be increased. Accordingly, the size of the seed and the content of storage lipid in the seed are increased, so an increase in productivity can be expected by means of an increase in the harvested amount of seeds. Moreover, by increasing the size of a seed which is a major organ for storing plant lipid, the content of storage lipid in the seed can be more increased.
