The present invention discloses a method for performing garbage collection in a dynamic random access memory (DRAM)-flash hybrid storage device using characteristics of an object through a dynamic profiler, and a system therefor. In a DRAM-flash hybrid memory environment, the dynamic profiler distinguishes objects (for example, a code and data) that match characteristics of a DRAM and a solid state disk (SSD) to store the objects in respective memories, profiles characteristics of a method, transmits idle time information of the SSD to a flash translation layer (FTL) when the method accesses only the DRAM, calculates a garbage collection target block capable of hiding overhead due to execution of the garbage collection in a corresponding FTL based on the idle time information of the SSD in the corresponding FTL, and performs the garbage collection on the calculated garbage collection target block.
