The present invention discloses a user terminal having a shoulder surfing protection function and a method for protecting shoulder surfing. A user terminal having a shoulder surfing protection function according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a display unit, a memory for storing a shoulder surfing protection program; and a processor for performing the program. The processor, according to program execution, extracts texts from an electronic document selected by a user, respectively applies character recombination to text strings corresponding to a viewing region and text strings corresponding to a non-viewing region on the basis of the viewing region and the non-viewing region in an electronic document of a user, and displays the strings to which the character recombination is applied on a display unit.
