The present invention relates to a nucleic acid molecule for discriminating male fertility or male sterility of onion, and to a method for discriminating male fertility or male sterility of onion by using the same. The inventors of the present invention have discriminated five species as candidate genes for determining the fertile restoring of male sterility in onion. The candidate genes clarified by the inventors can be ordinarily used, and the genotypes thereof can be easily analyzed in agarose gel. When the method of the present invention is used, efficiency in the F_1 hybrid cross-fertilization of onion can be improved. In particular, an operation consuming 4 or more years when a progeny test is performed can be finished only in one day according to the present invention, so efficiency in growing onion species can be remarkably improved.
