The present invention relates to a novel phenanthrene-ruthenium compound and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating cancer comprising the same as an effective component. The phenanthrene-ruthenium compound inhibits Akt-mTOR signal paths in cancer cells, increases caspase activity, activates autodigestion of cancer cells, and induces apoptosis, thereby showing excellent anti-cancer activity of inhibiting proliferation of cancer cells. Also, the phenanthrene-ruthenium compound shows excellent anti-cancer activity at low concentration than an existing anti-cancer agent, thereby being used for preventing or treating cancer.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
