The present invention relates to a process for thepreparationofAurantiochytrium RTI ID=0.0 &mangrovei) it relates to a method of culturing in the protists. The genus is characterized genetically and by its lipid profile. This method makes it possible to obtain high biomass yields, and thus the lipids of the cultivated protists, more particularly docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) reinforcement. The present invention relates to the development of a culture medium which enables the production of DHA-enriched protozoa of the genus Aurantiochitium mangrove at high cell density. The medium is chemically defined at low sodium ion (Na + ) and chloride ion (Cl - ) contents.
