The present invention provides a load generating apparatus for a weight training device, which includes: a case; a base which is installed to be positionally changeable on a floor in the case and is provided with a guide rail; a first connecting member having one end connected to an operating portion and an opposite end contained in the case; a lifting movement part connected to the opposite end of the first connecting member and movable up and down along a guide rail on an upper surface of the base; a load cell part for measuring a load due to the movement of the lifting movement part; a second connecting member having one end vertically connected to the load cell part and an opposite end connected to pass through the lifting movement part; a fixed side pulley through which the second connecting member passes; a winch drum rotatably installed on another side of the upper surface of the base and wound around the opposite end of the second connecting member via the fixed side pulley on a circumferential surface; and a load motor for rotating the winch drum such that a load preset by a user is applied to the lifting movement part when the load measurement of the lifting movement part by the load cell part. Thus, it is possible to reduce the size of the product through modularization and to make the force direction of the load cell to be provided always in the vertical direction.
