The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating and treating osteoporosis comprising Achyranthes bidentata Blume and ginseng extracts as active ingredients. The composition shows a complex effect of inhibiting differentiation of an osteoclast, increasing bone density and bone content, and enabling a microstructure of bone to be dense. By mixing each extract of the present invention, the composition inhibits cytotoxicity which a highly concentrated ginseng extract has compared to each extract alone. Accordingly, the composition can be widely used as a medicine and a health food useful for preventing or treating osteoporosis.
